From Revolutionary War Records of Virginia Volume III:
John Jester State Navy

From the notes of Charles Jester:
John, the son of Thomas and Sarah Jester, who had served in the French and Indian war in 1758 in French Battell's Company, was listed as single until 1761 when he was taxed as a married man. This is precisely when he would have been married in order to be the father of Nimrod. This John went on to the delinquency list of 1778 and is removed from the levy list of 1779. According to James Thomas Jester, who is most likey Nimrod's brother, he removed from Kent County, Delaware with his father in 1777. Even though Thomas and Nimrod are extremely close in birth order, such spacing is found on rare occasion. John was the executor of his father Thomas Jester's Will around June 1753.

From the notes of Ray Parker at rayparker22@yadtel.net:

The records available from Guilford Co. At Guilford College, the Guilford
County Genealogy Society, and the Census records for 1790, 1800, 1810 and
1820 are sketchy when it comes to the Jesters who lived there at the time.

However, I have questioned the accuracy of the information listed for John
Jester b. 1736, there is an 11 year gap in births between Maskell Jester
and the three other children listed, There most likely were more
undocumented children for John and his unknown wife.

When I looked at Nimrod's children the census reports don't support the
family listed and Charles Jester says that John Jester Nickelson was
mostly likely the nephew of Nimrod's wife Typrenia Nickelson and not a
Jester at all.

Y-DNA testing for Nimrod Jester's Great-Great Grandson confirms that all the Guilford Co. Jesters were descended from Richard Jester b. 1632.

In the book, " Daughters of the Revolution, Roster of Soldiers" pg. 579 there is a listing for a James T. Jester:
